Hello SVUSD Community, 

Attached is a brief summary of the key issues discussed at the May 4 Sonoma Valley Unified School District Board Meeting. We send recaps to parents and guardians via email each time the Board meets. Our goal is to make it easier for school families to understand the key decisions shaping our local schools and to understand how the Superintendent and the Board are addressing both ongoing challenges and new opportunities as they arise.

Each recap offers a quick overview of the topics the Board is tackling and any decisions reached (items voted on) during the meeting. A link to the full meeting video is available here for anyone who wants to explore the details further. 

The May 4 public meeting recap attached includes the unanimous vote to rename Altimira Middle School to Sonoma Valley Middle School; tentative agreements reached to increase salaries for our teachers and staff across all school campuses; some teacher and staff layoffs; and facilities use agreements reached for Sonoma Charter School and Woodland Star Charter School; among other topics.

The next Board Meetings are scheduled for Thursday, June 11 and Thursday, June 18, at 6:00 pm and as always, the public is welcome to attend.
