Where Little Learners Dream Big

Welcome to the SVUSD Preschool Family!

We believe that the first steps of a child’s educational journey should be filled with wonder, discovery, and joy. Our preschool program provides a safe, nurturing environment where your little ones can explore the world through purposeful play and hands-on discovery.

In our inclusive classrooms, we celebrate every child’s unique strengths while fostering the curiosity and creativity needed for a lifelong love of learning. We aren't just a school; we are a community dedicated to helping our youngest learners grow, collaborate, and thrive.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

🏫Welcome to Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

Sonoma Valley Unified School District (SVUSD) is excited to announce the expansion of our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) programs! TK serves as a vital bridge between preschool and kindergarten, providing a high-quality, "bonus year" of early learning that sets the stage for future academic success.

A Joyful Start to Learning

Our TK classrooms are designed to be language-rich, joyful environments. We focus on:

  • Learning Through Play: Hands-on activities that spark curiosity.

  • Social-Emotional Growth: Building confidence and positive relationships.

  • Self-Regulation: Helping children develop the focus and skills needed for kindergarten.

Enrollment & School Assignment

We encourage families to register early to help us plan for the correct number of classrooms.

  • Capacity: TK classes are capped at 20 students to ensure a low student-to-teacher ratio.

  • Placement: While we aim to keep students at their neighborhood schools, if a site reaches capacity, your child may be assigned to a TK classroom at a different district school.

  • Kindergarten Transition: If your child is assigned to a non-neighborhood school for TK, please note that this placement is for the TK year only. Your child will return to their neighborhood school for Kindergarten.

📝 Eligibility for the 2026-27 School Year

Following California's universal TK expansion, eligibility has widened. For the upcoming 2026-27 school year:

  • Who: Students who turn 5 years old between September 2, 2026, and September 1, 2027.
